Rolex Middle Sea Race: Line Honours for Maxi Rambler 88

October 20, 2015

The American canting keel maxi, Rambler 88, showed true power and grace, never relinquishing her command of the fleet, to finish at 0448 CEST on Tuesday, 20 October.

Claiming line honours, George David's new Juan Kouyoumdjian design took just 2 days, 16 hours, 48 minutes and 43 seconds to complete the 2015 Rolex Middle Sea Race.

Although the wind conditions didn't enable Rambler 88 to beat the course record which the team set in 2007, they never faltered and perfectly executed their game plan.

Owner George David was presented with a Rolex Yachtmaster I Rolesium at the line honours prizegiving held at the Royal Malta Yacht Club before day break this morning.

The team's sights are now set on the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race which starts on 26 December 2015.

The next arrival expected in Marsamxett Harbour is the trimaran Paradox later this afternoon, followed by the Maxi 72 MOMO (GER).  Weather conditions are gradually deteriorating which will challenge the smaller boats as they complete the 608 NM course.
