Rolex Capri Sailing Week/Volcano Race: Gale warning issued for tomorrow's Rolex Volcano Race start

After yesterday’s coastal race, dominated by Jethou (GBR), everything is ready in Capri for the start of tomorrow’s 300-nm offshore Rolex Volcano Race (Capri – Aeolian Islands – Capri).

The start for the Maxi fleet is scheduled for 11 AM. The Rolex Capri Sailing Week / Volcano Race 2013 is organized by the IMA in conjunction with the Yacht Club Gaeta and Yacht Club Capri, with Rolex as Title Sponsor. Last Saturday’s 100-nm offshore race from Gaeta to Capri (Race 1), dominated by Y3K (GER), and a coastal race off Capri yesterday (Race 2), won by Sir Peter Ogden’s Jethou (GBR), complete the racing program for this year’s edition.

Today, crews remained ashore in the Marina Grande to prepare their boats and sails for tomorrow morning’s start, knowing that a gale warning issued for the next few days could force the Race Committee to change the route from what was originally planned.

During tonight’s Rolex Party at the “Canzone del Mare” prizes will be awarded for Race 1, which also counted for the “Trofeo Città di Gaeta”, and Race 2.

Remember that as of tomorrow the trackers will be activated, allowing all to follow racing of the Maxi yachts for the entirety of the offshore Rolex Volcano Race. The tracker may be accessed through the IMA homepage (www.internationalmaxiassociation.com)
