Hublot Palmavela - WHICH KIND OF REGATTA WILL WE SEE IN 2009 ?
31/03/2009
There´s just two weeks left before the start of the 2009 edition of a regatta which has grown to become a classic, in spite of its short life, among the events held in the Bay of Palma every year.
We will see 180 boats distributed in 14 different classes and representing 17 countries, Spain included.
An almost record breaking registration, it will take place in four different racing fields, all of them independent and marked in the Bay of Palma.
The HUBLOT CHARLIE AREA will be exclusively reserved to the coastal races. The Vintage and Classic, as well as the four Maxi classes, Box Rule TP52, IRC, ORC International and RI, will hold their coastal races here, whereas the leeward-windward races – the so called “bastones” ( sticks) in Spanish argot- will be held in the DELTA AREA, specially set up for this purpose.
The Maxi class registration for this edition is one of the highest of its short life, with 20 entries in its four divisions. 3 in Maxi Cruiser, 5 in Maxi Wally, 7 in Mini Maxi and 5 in Swan Maxi. Among these nice “ sea beasts” the debut of two brand new boats stands out, the TP65 Container and Luna Rossa.
Everything is therefore tied up for the start signal, on Thursday 16th at 12:00, of one of the best editions of a regatta which has little by little consolidated, joining the most sporty aggressiveness at sea with fellowship on solid ground, faithful to the principles and philosophy of its sponsor Hublot.
